In 2010 AEC was awarded a project to carryout refurbishment and demolition surveys at two Royal Air Force bases with over 30 buildings at each. The purpose of this was to locate asbestos containing materials prior to demolition of the buildings.
Access to buildings was almost 100% as access was pre-arranged and all services were isolated pre survey, the only omissions being two buildings; one due to a mass pigeon infestation that needed specialist cleaning and one building that was designated as on standby in case of a national emergency.
We subsequently surveyed both of these buildings at a later date.
The project was delivered on time and within budget and to the satisfaction of the client. AEC continues to work in this sector both directly on defence sites and for supply chain companies.
