Practical seminar - The management of asbestos removal operations

AEC has many years’ experience working alongside and managing licensed asbestos removal contractors and understand the complex challenges of the entire asbestos removal process.

Bob Harris, Technical Director would like to invite you to a free practical seminar to develop your knowledge on the full asbestos removal journey.

Who should attend?

The event is suitable for project managers, compliance and health and safety managers and those responsible for procuring and enabling asbestos removal projects.

Learning Objectives

  • Legislation – understanding your legal responsibilities and those of the licensed asbestos removal company
  • How to procure a removal company – what to look out for
  • Managing the removal process from start to completion
  • 4 stage clearance process and certificates of reoccupation
  • Practical demonstrations of how removal is undertaken - The practical zones will allow you to step into what is usually an off-limits area! You will get to learn about how and why decontamination units are used, walk through a mock asbestos enclosure to gain an understanding on how asbestos is removed and discover the important role of an analyst and what’s involved in asbestos air testing, fibre counting and laboratory analysis.

    1) Mobile decontamination unit– how this works, how it is set up and used
    2) Mock asbestos enclosure– How it is constructed, negative pressure and air change requirements, how it is cleaned and removed
    3) Air testing and fibre counting – what the analyst does, what is a 4 stage clearance, how fibre counting is carried out on your site

09.15 – 10.00 Presentation
10.00 – 11.00 Practical rotations– visit our fully functional decontamination unit and asbestos removal enclosure. You will be placed into smaller groups to make the most of the experience.
11.05-11.30 Closing presentation and Q&A
