Hello, I’m Jim McKeon
I’ve been working at AEC for 18 years and I am a Major Projects Manager.
My role at AEC
I first joined AEC in August 2000 as a Trainee Assistant surveyor and worked on various survey projects. This was a huge learning curve as I knew very little about asbestos when I first started at AEC.
Following on from assistant surveying, I moved into asbestos analytical monitoring on sites ranging from domestic housing to schools and also large industrial premises. The training and mentoring I received was fantastic - both office based and also in the field and the skills I learned during the training helped with strong decision making on site.
After 3 years of asbestos analytical monitoring, I moved into lead surveying. This enabled me to gain further surveying experience on larger sites such as a chocolate factory, missile factory and large-scale glass manufacturing sites.
Natural career progression led me into project management, where I now look after large contracts such as local government through to social housing and asbestos removal during demolition projects.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I have always enjoyed the challenges that each role provides at AEC. There is always something different to get involved with and each day sees a different challenge / location to work in.
