Hello, I’m Dave Russon
I’ve been working at AEC for 15 years and I am a Senior Occupational Hygienist.
My role at AEC
I joined AEC in 2002 and my first role was to help set up and expand the occupational hygiene service and within my first week I was out on site undertaking an exposure monitoring job within a large document handling unit.
Whilst developing the occupational hygiene side of the business, I was also encouraged to gain asbestos surveying experience and shadow a senior consultant on site.
After a period of in-house training, I became an asbestos analyst for 18 months and was out on site with microscope in hand to carry out smoke tests, re-assurance and clearance air tests.
Eventually, I moved back into surveying commercial and domestic properties, whilst continuing to take on occupational hygiene jobs as and when they arose.
I decided I wanted to focus my efforts into growing the occupational hygiene side of the business and the directors, Bob and Mandy allowed me to do this full time.
As an occupational hygienist I have carried out projects in just about every workplace imaginable and have travelled not only the length and breadth of Britain, but also to Azerbaijan, the Middle East, Switzerland and Germany.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the variety my role offers, the different types of industry that I get to visit, and the chance to see things that you otherwise wouldn’t normally get to see. Whether this be the manufacturing of formula one racing cars, or flight simulators, how baked beans are made, behind the scenes in museums, or medical specimens used by surgeons to practice their techniques.
