Medical Detection Dogs trains dogs to detect the odour of human disease. Their bio detection dogs are trained to find the odour of diseases, such as cancer, in samples such as urine, breath and swabs. Their Medical Alert Assistance dogs are trained to detect minute changes in an individual’s personal odour triggered by their disease and alert them to an impending medical event. The assistance dogs are provided to assist people living with Type 1 diabetes, Addison’s, severe nut allergy, and POT’s. The dogs are with their owners 24/7 and alert both during the day and night. Dogs are trained to alert by either jumping up and/or licking strongly.
This gives the families time to intervene and get to a safe place to prevent serious injury, during an “episode”.

They provide, clothing, school uniforms, Easter eggs, books, Christmas presents etc. to children living in poverty across the Manchester region. Last year at Christmas they gave new toys and food to over 2,000 families and 4,500 children. This year they expect the numbers referred to be even higher.
